Hi, DTDDoc is pretty cool, but it did too much for my purposes (I want to= =20 embed the html in my own headers and footers using my own make system) so I= =20 produced a stripped down version. This produces just the body of the html= =20 for a single DTD, there is no elements index. Also no ANT stuff, just run i= t=20 from the command line with a single argument being the name of the DTD. If anyone wants a copy please email me (dav...@gm...). Cheers, Dave |

Dear You all, As you have noticed, DTDDoc is quite quiet right now. Simple explanation, I'm now a project manager ! I hoped to become that for quite some time and now, here it is : I am :) As you know, it's kind of stressful and although I love the job, I must say that it's quite exhausting. But I'm getting up to speed and I'll probably include several changes in a forthcoming release. It will mainly be integration of people out there who gave bits of their time to help the project. See you soon ! Stefan |

Hi DTDDoc developers, I just added some build improvements in DTDDoc's CVS : =2D build.xml : added version information in jar's manifest =2D DTDCommenter.java and DTDDocTask.java : add version information in outp= ut =2D Maven configuration (project.xml, project.properties, maven.xml) : you = just=20 have to run "maven site:generate" to get great reports in target/doc/=20 subdirectory While working with CVS, there seem to be a problem with resources/ director= y :=20 there seem to be no files in this directory. Is this a simple omission ? Another trick with CVS : there is no tag marking released versions. Based o= n=20 dates available on package download, I should be able to mark some older=20 versions. Do you think I should do so or not ? Regards, Herv=E9 |

Read carefully, breaking changes ! - The overall look and feel has been changed. This means that your old CSS files may not work anymore. - Replaced the DTD selection are by a full blown tree browser (thanks to Mike Koehrsen & Geir Landro). The tree browser is JavaScript. I've tested on several browsers and it's fine but one never knows... You might not like it, in that case, well just tell me, I'll reactivate the old one. - Now the element's model are linked to their elements. - Proper support for attribute types like NMTOKEN and such (still a bit simple though). - Each DTD gets a page with its entities. - A few bug fixes and code cleanups. - Transformed all HTML tags to lowercase so we're a bit closer to XHTML. - Fixed the way I deduce an URI from a String path (issues were with files located in sub directories) (and now d/l, I'm of not being popular :)) stF |

Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Hi everybody, I've posted that on the news (sorry for the delay, but you know, when you listen more to your will than to your natural needs, then the nervous system fucks you big time and the consequence, for me at least, is called fibromyalgia (http://www.fmnetnews.com/pages/basics.html) , read : pain pain pain, without any explicit causes meaning, without cure. Ain't funny) : 29th of October 2003 I'm not dead ! It's just that I have a job until the end of the year (hopefully mid-december) and my health is very bad right now (nervous breakdown, ouch !). Therefore I have to put DTDDoc on hold until mid-december, when things will be easier for me. I plan to add a better index system (following some of your suggestions by the way) and the much needed support for entities. After that, I think that DTDDoc will be frozen for a while, depending on the number of demands I get. By the way, it seems that we have gained some popularity and given the very low number of answers/comments I got from you, I can say that either DTDDoc is quite solid or an absolutely crappy program. Unfortunately, I can't tell because the employer where DTDDoc was useful fired me two months ago. And now I do some PHP/ODBC/IIS/Oracle development where I hardly touch a DTD. cheers, stF |

Hi all, Looks like many of us are on holidays right now. I can say that from the stats of the DTDDoc project which are incredibly low (there are just "terribly" low in normal situation :)). So I decided to take holidays until the end of august. Maybe it's good time for you all to test the latest version, find bugs and propose new features. Lets-enjoy-the-sun. stF |

Dear you all, Just two notes : - I've been contacted by Prentice Hall because they want to include DTDDoc on the CD accompanying one of their future publication (XML Handbook). As I expect them to release the whole zip file I provide on the website, I want to remind you that some of you have their name appearing clearly inside. Since you all agreed to be published on the website (under the MIT license), I think you won't see any problem to being published on a CD. Should you be reluctant to that, please tell me, I'll remove your name. You'll find the editor's letter below this email - I'll be on holidays from today to next tuesday. - I have already started to incorporate all the RFE, bug-fixes, etc. that were submitted on SourceForge by some of you. Release 0.0.8 will include almost all of them (one is a bit tough so I'll do it later). Best regards stF ---------------- To Stefan Champailler: Charles F. Goldfarb and Paul Prescod, authors of the forthcoming Fifth Edition of The XML Handbook (Prentice Hall, 2003) would like the CD-ROM that accompanies the book to include your free software: DTDDoc If you agree, please reply to me with this message attached, thereby indicating that you grant permission to include the documentation and executable code for the software in the book "The XML Handbook, Fifth Edition" to be published by Prentice Hall, Inc., and that you grant Prentice Hall non-exclusive worldwide distribution rights. Replying now would be best, but if that isn't possible, please don't delay past July 18 to avoid missing the due date for including software on the CD-ROM. Other than your approval, no other effort is required of you, as we can download the free software from the Internet. If you are not the appropriate person to consider this request, I would be grateful if you would direct this message to that person and notify me so that I can update our records. Any additional questions can be directed to Andrew Goldfarb at an...@xm.... Thank you in advance. Andrew Goldfarb for Prentice Hall, Inc. |

Hello everyone, Work on 0.0.7 (the Bond release :)) has started. I plan to address bugs more than features in this one. I'll also overlook the integration of DTDDoc as a Maven plugin. Therefore, bug reports are more than welcome. Make DTDDoc sweat by the knees :) stF |
