I'm working on archiving complex objects that rely on subdirectory
structures and I'm having trouble exporting these items in Dspace 1.3.
I've been working on using the import tool to ingest items containing
directories. Using a relative path in the contents file I was able to
ingest the item. See the contents file below.
I verified via the gui and psql that the file test.txt was ingested
properly. However, the export tool fails while recreating the object.
I get the following error:
./dsrun org.dspace.app.itemexport.ItemExport --type=COLLECTION
--id=1 --dest=/export --number=120
Exporting from collection: 1
Exporting item to 121
Exporting Item 6 to /export/121
Attempting to create file /export/121/dublin_core.xml
Exception in thread "main" java.io.IOException: No such file or directory
at java.io.UnixFileSystem.createFileExclusively(Native Method)
It seems to fail on creation of the dublin_core.xml file. Is it
possible that Dspace expects a dublin_core.xml file to exist in each
subdirectory? In the exported item Dspace creates all items that were
in the first level directory, but doesn't create the sheets directory or
it's contents. Also, the contents file is empty. However, the exported
dublin_core.xml file shows that the item does contain the file that
should be contained in the sheets directory.
Has anyone had a successful experience importing and exporting items
containing directories? We'd like to manage this without resorting to
using container/compression formats to bundle up the item contents.
