If you mean changing the site 'skin', i.e. things like logos and fonts,
all we have at the moment is:
I realise this doesn't give you too much information in terms of how to
actually change specific things. The easiest way is to look at the
existing files, and make changes (on a copy in jsp/local) to suit your
needs. Maybe others who have done this can help; please feel free to
start up a page on the DSpace Wiki wiki.dspace.org as a place to gather
experience in this.
If you're referring to internationalisation: Presently, translating
DSpace to another language is quite a daunting operation, but help is
nearly at hand; folks at the University of Patras have separated out the
text in the UI from the code to make this MUCH easier. Hopefully this
valuable enhancement will be part of the main DSpace codebase soon.
If you mean more substantial changes (e.g. adding extra functionality),
this means becoming more familiar with the code, and probably means you
have to change the Servlets as well as just the JSPs.
Hope this helps,
