For contributing back modifications, you may want to consider submitting a patch. Refer to http://wiki.dspace.org/HowToContribute for how to do this. There is also an upcoming add-on mechanism which may be applicable for some of your extensions, so you should also have a look at http://wiki.dspace.org/AddOnMechanism
If you wanted to provide a detailed outline of your modifications you could sign up to the Wiki (http://wiki.dspace.org/FrontPage) and add pages to the Wiki (or a link on the Wiki to information about them). Alternatively you could distribute the info on the mailists (but the Wiki would probably be better).
Have you registered your DSpace instance on the Wiki (http://wiki.dspace.org/DspaceInstances)?

Subject: [Dspace-devel] DSpace development organization
I work for a French university. We have install DSpace 1.1 2 years ago
and I have made a LOT of modifications on the code. We have made some
new features like automatic distribution of item in collections and many
I would like to known how to discuss about those new features and how to
incorporate them in new release. The development made on DSpace 1.1 is
being ported on the new version 1.3. For example, we have made a good
dynamic management of metadata. So we can dynamicly add metadata to
input form, have different label of metadata on the input form and in
the display item page. We can choose which metadata should be present in
simple item view and complete item view. We can choose which metadata
should be in what search index. And many more features...
I have see that some of our new features are now available in the new
release. So we will be happy to work together to inject those new code
in future release.
I known that we are not using DSpace like other institutions so all our
new features should not be benefit to all, but I think that some of this
features should interest others.
Let me known how to more discuss about this, and if you are interest in
