Thanks Peter, I was able to execute the create-administrator command with dspace/bin/dspace create-administrator.

Hi Odili,

Check out this updated guide for getting started with DSpace on OSX.
https://wiki.duraspace.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=55904164

The command your looking for needs the full path, thus:
/dspace/bin/dspace create-administrator

Some shorthand that you'll find in the documentation is:
[dspace] which is the installed-dspace directory, typically: /dspace

[dspace-source] which is the source code you download from GitHub/SourceForge, it can be anywhere, I'm guessing reasonable choices might be: /opt/DSpace, /Users/yourName/Projects/DSpace, or /dspace-source

The create-administrator wants you to type:
[dspace]/bin/dspace create-administrator

If [dspace] equals /dspace, then it becomes: /dspace/bin/dspace create-administrator

Thanks for the update. I just tried it again and I still got

-bash: dspace: command not found

can this prevent the xmlui or jspui from working in a servlet container ?

Hi

Check the file [dspace-source]/build.properties.  to verify the right folder from DSpace instalattion.

After go to the folder and execute the command ./bin/dspace create-administrator.

I am trying to install DSpace 4.1 on my Mac running Mavericks and I have completed the steps (from the online docs) up ant fresh_install. The next thing I am required to do is to create a DSpace user using dspace create-administrator but this is failing. From the installation folder (where ant fresh_install "deployed" DSpace to) I ran dspace create-administrator and got the following output : -bash: dspace: command not found

I also copied the jspui and xmlui from the webapps folder inside the ant fresh_install "deployed" target to the deployments folder of my JBoss AS 7.1 but got 404 from http://localhost:8080/xmlui andhttp://localhost:8080/jspui ?

Any help with these will be appreciated.
