Linux users are advised to stay away from the GTK2 port of wxPython. I am not sure if this is simply the port, or GTK2 itself, but for 22.214.171.124, drpython runs REALLY slow, and is prone to the occasional segfault. The 126.96.36.199 version does not support wx.Execute.
The GTK port seems to be fine, and, like the windows port, is rather speedy.
Ok, I just tried the GTK2 port version 188.8.131.52.
So far, so good.
Delicious in fact.
The new window bit is still a bit ugly and slow,
but overall much faster than before.
So if you really want that GTK2 look, try out 184.108.40.206.
I have only just started playing with this, so there could be all kinds of fun stuff waiting to happen (like segfaults).
Spoke too soon.
Vive la Segfaults.
Sigh, guess it's GTK for now.
Well, I got the segfaults (only GTK2 complains, but removing the cuase seems to be fine with GTK and Windows, so it is done).
Still slow though.
Lightening fast on GTK with most themes, and on Windows.
Seems to be the sizing mechanism (Slow at drawing maybe?).
