No

When saving a new file, if the user doesn't explicitly
write a '.py' at the end of the name, then the file
name will have no extension.
Ie. If you want 'foo.py' but only write 'foo' then your
file is just 'foo', not 'foo.py'

Hm, I don't think, this is so good.
Then you cannot save a file without extensions.
But anyway, this could be an option.

One way to do this that would still allow saving to other
extension would be insert .py into the file name field when
saving a file, so that users can just write their name
before the .py, or erase it to put their own. From
interviews and tests we have done, most users assumed that a
.py would be included, and their files ended up having no
    extension.

I will make this an option (enabled by default).

I think a good way to do it would be
to simply (if the option is enabled), append a .py if no
    extension is found.

The problem with starting off with the .py is that a user
could accidently erase it (perhaps by clicking on a
different file, changing their mind, and then typing a new
    filename).

This is in the next release, as an option (on by default).
