Hi Nick, I have never had the problem of my modules not loading. I have seen some fixes for it posted in this list, but not sure how to do it since it hasn't happened to me. Since you are no longer getting any errors, hopefully everything is ok, but I think the reason your don't have hardware acceleration is because of the modules not loading. If X starts before the modules are loaded, you won't get hardware acceleration. Load the agpgart module, then load the radeon module. Do a "cat /proc/modules" to make sure they did load, and then restart X (CTRL + ALT +BACKSPACE should work). Check your log to see has something showing dri enabled. The glxinfo command can show that too, however, I have seen glxinfo say that hardware rendering was enabled when it really wasn't. If everything shows good, try how something simple like gears. If all is well, we just need to figure out why your modules aren't loading automatically. Good luck, Ken Nick Webb wrote: >Okay, I've got all of this fixed. I do not get any errors now, but 3D does not work (as in quake3, tribes2, etc). The modules for "agpgart" and "radeon" do not start up automatically, either, like they should. What else do I need to do to get 3D setup working? > >Thanks again. > >On Thu, Nov 08, 2001 at 09:11:20PM -0500, Kenton Groombridge wrote: > |
