It's=20 designed to allow you to have both configs coexist on the same=20 system (though it's not as much of an issue now that most people=20 have dropped XFree86 3.x in favour of 4.[12]). So making changes to XF86Config-4 will be sufficient, and necessary if you have both files on your system.
