Hi all. I've looked through the archive for this list without finding a
solution to my problem, so I'm hoping someone can help me.
I a Dell latitude C610 notebook with a ATI Radeon Mobility Card. I'm using
Mandrake 8.2 and the XFree86 4.2.0 version that comes with it.
With DRI enabled in my XF86Config-4 file run into several problems including:
1. My own GL programs seg fault with an error in __driCreateScreen() from the
2. The display for a Windows virtual machine in VMWare is full of holes. (e.g.
Microsoft Word shows only about a third of the text that's on the screen; the
"empty" areas are plain white.)
With DRI disabled, those problems go away, but, as would be expected, things
slow down quite a lot.
I've tried both the radeon and drm drivers that come with 4.2.0 as well as the
ati.2 binaries from http://gatos.sf.net, with the same results in both cases.
Anyone have any ideas?
