Hi, I had also such warnings after I got DRI to work on a ATI Rage Mobility P/M (with only 8 MB RAM onboard). That means that, even if DRI is working and OpenGL stuff too, the card can't handle AIGLX and 3D Desktop, because of the little RAM! So I put in xorg.conf: Section "ServerFlags" Option "AIGLX" "off" EndSection Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Disable" EndSectionturning off all the 3D Desktop related stuff, and there is no more messages... and OpenGL is working... But, in your case, I don't know if it is for the same reason (not enough RAM) or if it is a driver problem? Perhaps you have to compare between the free and proprietary driver, if it is still the same results? I don't know more technicals about your specific card or driver, sorry, but I wish you good luck. Is there some documentation on what these "visuals" correspond to?. Is it actual hardware that doesn't support something or is it the driver not having implemented certain features?. -- Esben Stien is b0ef@e s a http://www. s t n m irc://irc. b - i . e/%23contact sip:b0ef@ e e jid:b0ef@ n n ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace. This is not the case here, I believe. I've been to busy to setup 3d desktop, but a year ago, I ran luminocity. At that time I had a composite desktop with wobbly windows and all and it was decent performance. It does work slow now, when I run compiz, but I think I should be able to at least get it running without being too slow. I will buy a new AMD card pretty soon, since now newer cards are starting to work, thanks to the spec release. -- Esben Stien is b0ef@e s a http://www. s t n m irc://irc. b - i . e/%23contact sip:b0ef@ e e jid:b0ef@ n n |

It's more than just lack of vram. The ATI Rage Mobility P/M (which is mach64 based) doesn't support the necessary 3D features for things like compiz. Alex |
