HI -- last week I downloaded and ran the install.sh scripts for i810-20060320-linux.i386 and common-20060320-linux.i386. The scripts appeared to work OK, but now when I try to start X I get these messages: (II) LoadModule: "i810" (II) Loading /usr/lib/modules/drivers/i810_drv.so (II) Module i810: vendor=3D"X.Org Foundation" compiled for 4.22.7L, module version =3D 1.5.1 Module class: X.Org Video Driver ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.8 (EE) module ABI minor version (8) is newer than the server's version (7) followed by (EE) No drivers available. Fatal server error: no screens found Worse yet, when I run the install.sh scripts with the "restore" option it doesn't work either! Perhaps the old i810_drv was not saved by the install script? What should I do to get things working again? |

I assume you are running X.org 6.9 or newer? If not download the files from http://dri.freedesktop.org/snapshots/extras the procedure should be described right under the snapshots part on http://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/Download This has at least worked for me in the past. Hope this helps, if not, ask someone else, I am no guru ;) Martin S. OK - I installed xorg 6.9 using the instructions on the download page, then installed the latest common and i810 files. Now Xorg startup stops, the last log messges being: tail /var/log/Xorg.0.log (II) I810(0): [agp] Bound backbuffer memory (II) I810(0): [agp] Bound System Texture Memory (II) I810(0): [agp] GART: Allocated 4K for mouse cursor image (II) I810(0): [agp] GART: Allocated 16K for ARGB mouse cursor image (II) I810(0): Adding 768 scanlines for pixmap caching (II) I810(0): Allocated Scratch Memory (II) I810(0): [dri] Buffer map : 5cb000 (II) I810(0): [drm] added 256 4096 byte DMA buffers (II) I810(0): [drm] Init v1.4 interface. (II) I810(0): [drm] dma control initialized, using IRQ -22 At this point, my screen is blank and I cannot seem to recover it. Any ideas where to go next? Sorry for late reply, but this goes beyond my knowledge. Could someone with more dri developing and testing experience please help him out? I have a i915 and have not fiddled with agpgart and dri. Maybe you just need a correct setup for your xorg.conf Martin S.
