I am using a 3Dfx Voodoo 5 and Debian testing.
When I switch to user root, XFree loads fine, but if I try to start X as a
regular user, I just get the grey background and an "X" for a mouse cursor,
and X sits there repeating the same error message on the console.
Has anyone else experienced this same problem and found any solutions?
I have also found that if I start X as root first, then start another X
session on the next display (F8), as a normal user, everything works fine,
except now I have two X sessions that have to run.
I'd appreciate any information as I've already scoured Google and Yahoo and
the DRI mailing lists for a solution, but to no avail. Could it be a
permissions issue? If so, what should I change?
