Isn't this a very old card? ie 4mb voodoo 1?
How much memory is on that Banshee, I suspect that it may be doing AGP (is this even an AGP card?) transfers (which are very slow). Try reducing resolution / texture sizes then hopfully it wont have to visit the main memory, via the PCI / AGP bus, which is causing the jerkiness.
Could be wrong, but then I dont know the resolution / colour depth / etc that you are trying to run, or the speifics of your hardware, or the GL program.
