Having the same machine, I am interested in your results.
I have finally (in the last few days) got direct rendering to work on my
I am running FC 2, with no updates.
(kernel 2.6.5-1.358, Xorg 6.7 Xserver)
I get the following results:
3D: glxgears: 1320 fps (under KDE); 1280 fps (under Gnome)
2D: x11perf -shmputxy500: 130/sec (under KDE), 130 (underGnome)
I found a similar difference for glxgears times between KDE and Gnome on
a second machine running an nVidia card and the nVidia driver.
Does anyone have any idea why KDE seems faster than Gnome for glxgears?
