I've recently (and sucessfully) upgraded my compiler to GCC 2.95.2.
Happy with the performance boost gained by it, I recompiled X, and noted
quite a substantial boost in performamce (gears jumped from 420 to
480fps). However, upon running glinfo, i noticed that a few extenstions
were missing, such as GL_ARB_multitexture. It seems that these missing
extensions may have introduced some instabilty as well, as quake2 now
crashes some 10 seconds after startup.
Could this be a bug in GCC, or is it possible that X doesn't like the
GCC version (it compiled fine with egcs 1.1.2).
