Xcode 5.0 has completely got rid of GCC (the GCC command just points to Clang now). As a side effect, just running the configure script and doing build doesn't build. I know that I could get around this annoyance with configure switches, but a better way to do this is to check if $CC is Clang and plan accordingly.

The version string from gcc and clang:
CW-i7-mini:32-bit cwbetts$ gcc --version
Configured with: --prefix=/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/usr --with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/include/c++/4.2.1
Apple LLVM version 5.0 (clang-500.2.76) (based on LLVM 3.3svn)
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin12.5.0
Thread model: posix
CW-i7-mini:32-bit cwbetts$ clang --version
Apple LLVM version 5.0 (clang-500.2.75) (based on LLVM 3.3svn)
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin12.5.0
Thread model: posix

Attached is the build error that I get.

    Note that the bug is not present when building for 64-bit Intel. Also, the bug has been fixed, so this can be closed.
