Hi,

In the Search Scope window, the sources are listed there. But it can be quite confusing when a few sources are with the similar names but in totally different directory (e.g. sources are C:\users\Tom\docs, C:\users\Dave\docs, docfetcher displays them as "docs" and "docs"). And I failed to modified "tree-index.ser" to get the source name renamed. Is it possible that you can add a feature that by double clicking the source name, the name could be renamed or similar renaming feature? If not, can you point me some hint that I can manually rename it by modifying index data?

    Hi,

The current version of DocFetcher doesn't support renaming at all, so you'd have to actually rebuild the index if you want to change the name of a folder.

Some future version of DocFetcher might support assigning user-defined labels to indexes to address this problem.

    Best regards

Thanks. Is it possible that I can modify the display name of the source in GUI by modifying "tree-index.ser" or any other files in the indexes? Since I really need this for my project.

The display name has to be identical to the folder name, otherwise the program may behave unpredictably. For that reason, I would advise against trying to change it. (Also, yes, it's stored in the tree-index.ser, but it's a binary file format, so you'd better not touch it.)

The only (reasonable) way to change the display name is to rename the folder and then rebuild the index.
