    Hi all
I've installed PHP 5.2.6 (for Windows) and Dev-PHP 2.3.0 (310) on my machine.  Granted, I did not set any web server as of yet.  My issue seems not to have anything with the web server or lack of it thereoff.  When I try to run a sample PHP script within the IDE, I get this message:
A9902 : PHP Parser Not Found
which to me seems like the IDE does not recognize the PHP installation.  What do I do wrong?

A second question while on it...
I do have any access to a serious OS at home and do not have the resources to upgrade.  Microsoft does not allow IIS to run on my platform and Apachee proved to be very slow and overkill to my tests.  Is there a way to setup Cherokee to work with PHP?  Does anybody have any experience (and maybe setup examples?)  If not, is there any recommended small and simple web server that I could work with without too much effort?  At this stage I am interested in going through the PHP code and functionality, I'd concentrate on the web presentation side later.  Similarly, I do not care for My SQL as of yet.
    Thanks
    ZA

    • Hi zatlas1,

      > the IDE does not recognize the PHP installation. What do I do wrong ?
In fact, we have to set Dev-PHP with the selected installation of PHP (there could be many of them on the same PC).
See Menu » Options » General options » Parser enter the path to php-cgi.exe

      > Microsoft does not allow IIS to run on my platform
      > Is there a way to setup Cherokee to work with PHP
      > Is there any recommended small and simple web server
Actually, Dev-PHP is provided with its internal web server
      See Menu » Options » General options » Web-server
Set the local root of your project, the port number and a timeout.

At the moment, Dev-PHP doesn't yet embed any database engine, but...

      Best regards,
      Pierre.

It would be helpful to Dev-PHP newcomers if the message
A9902 : PHP Parser Not Found
could be replaced by something like
A9902 : Please set the PHP Parser at Options>General options>Parser

The current message is the sort of setback that will drive the less determined users away in the first 5 minutes!

      • Hi,

        > Replace the A9902 message by
        > A9902 : Please set the PHP Parser at Options>General options>Parser

An excellent idea - and a very good argument ;)
        Files "../locale/*/LC_MESSAGES/default.po" updated.

        Thanks for your report,
        Pierre.
