Just make sure you copy your stuff away, before you do anything.
CVS updates are not a problem, it won't delete anything, but
build/update_src will delete stuff within build/src !
Another way to protect your stuff is to send your changes to me, so we =
include it in the standard.
When you prove yourself and want to continue working on DL, we can even=
discuss about giving you CVS access.

Did you compile postgresql with static library support enabled ?
