I installed a Devil-Linux router (V. 1.2.9) in our Network an need
multicast-routing to run for our Novell-Clients. I googled the net for
solutions and found a hint to add a static route for the multicast-net
on the interface on which the novell-server resides.
But this did not work. On the router I can ping the multicast address
184.108.40.206 to reach the Novell Servers, on a client that resides in
another ip-segment than the server I can't ping. Tcpdump shows nothing
on the serverside interface. I'm wondering if the DL kernel supports
multicast routing and if not how I can compile a new kernel with
multicast routing support.
Additionally I found that for the Service Location Protocol (SLP) which
is used by the Novell client to look up the Novell servers "pim" is
needed. There's something like pimd for linux, is it included in DL? If
not, how can I include it? Or is obsolete, if the kernel supports
Thanks in advance,
