first of all thanks for this great little program!
I have setup ddclient and everything is working as it should. The only thing that bothers me is that ddclient writes error messages to my syslog everytime the daemon runs (every 60 sec.) and it doesn´t have to update. The error messages are as follows:
May 15 09:31:38 XXX ddclient: WARNING: updating XXX.no-ip.org: nochg: No update required; unnecessary attempts to change to the current address are considered abusive
From what I understand, ddclient checks the current ip and compares it with the one in cache, and only if they differ initiates an update, is that right? So, why does it write those error messages as when it doesn´t update the IP the provider isn´t abused. Do I understand anything wrong?
Is there a way to change that behavior?
Another thing - is ddclient writing to the syslog if the daemon/process is killed? So far this hasn´t happened but today I couldn´t lock into my server from extern and saw that ddclient wasn´t running. I would like to write a little script for a cron job to check every x minutes if ddclient is running or if there are entries in the syslog saying that it doesn’t...
Thank you very much,
