Certainly if you use DbUnit's assertEquals() and the table your are trying
to compare to does not exist, the assertion will fail.
DbUnit doesn't check indexes in normal usage.
I have just been thinking lately about using DbUnit to compare schemas (in
Oracle in my case) by comparing selected table/columns in the system
catalog. This could be used to verify indexes. I would use to to verify tha=
scripts I've written to migrate a schema from one version to another
actually do take the database to the desired new state.
