so after i typing "autonuke" and letting Dban do its thing, after that can i still use my HD??
like after wiping, can i reinstall windows xp? if so, is there anything else i have to do on my part? or is my HD gone?

i did some further research and found from this website: http://www.security.ku.edu/download/DBAN_Tutorial.pdf#search=%22how%20dban%20use%22

The last step was to make a win98 boot disk and type "fdisk /mbr" to 'rewrite the MBR'. What exactly does that mean and is it essential?

Doing "fdisk /mbr" installs a DOS master boot record to the hard disk, which is the very first piece of software that is run by the computer at boot time.

If you intend to reuse the computer with a current Microsoft Windows release or any Linux distribution, then "fdisk /mbr" is an unnecessary action because these operating systems will install their own MBR.
