Hi I am trying to wipe drives on an Intel Haswell based system (motherboard: http://www.asrock.com/server/overview.asp?Model=E3C226D2I), and DBAN is not detecting any of the connected drives. I checked and the kernel currently in the ISO is 3.2, and I believe Haswell support came together around 3.8 or later. Is there an easy way to run DBAN on a newer kernel? Or maybe on top of something like an Ubuntu boot disk?
To follow up, I was able to build a new ISO from the 2.2.8 source distribution with the most recent stable Linux kernel by doing the following:
1) In buildroot-2012.02/configs/dban_defconfig change BR2_LINUX_KERNEL_VERSION="3.2.7" to BR2_LINUX_KERNEL_VERSION="3.12.3"
2) In buildroot-2012.02 run make dban_defconfig
3) I also had to repeat step 1 but for buildroot-2012.02/.config
Follow remaining build instructions in README.TXT, and buildroot is built run ./master.sh
