Dban error when beginning the wipe.

I'm getting ready to sell an old PC and had Dban recommended to me to make sure it's completely clean of personal data before I reinstall Windows.

I'm using a bootable flash drive to run Dban but am receiving this error immediately after starting the wipe:

    • ERROR /dev/sdb (process crash)
    • ERROR /dev/sda (process crash)

I've unplugged everything except for the monitor, keyboard, drive I'm booting from, and drive I want to wipe. I've also opened up the case and unplugged the multimedia card reader and optical drive since some troubleshooting suggested doing so.

I've tried using DoD Short, DoD 5220.22-M, and RCMP TSSIT OPS-II and all return the same error.

    Any help?
