Davex is a command-line shell for the Apple II family of computers. Davex runs on ProDOS 8, and a subset of functionality is ported to SOS.
Commands are available to do typical filesystem manipulation - listing/moving/creating/deleting/copying files, I/O redirection, program launching, and more. There is a comprehensive help system and command aliasing to make the system behave the way you expect. Davex supports invoking native programs as well as Davex extensions written by interested users.
The downloadable package includes disk images that will run in Apple II and Apple /// emulators, and transferring them to a real disk will let you run Davex on real hardware.
