Yaakov,

Thanks for the reply. I should admit I suppose that I cannot, apparently, read :-\ I did not catch that the -K <URL> was about adding a signature to the setup.exe execution. I've had to start from scratch today to get a working cygwin install, so I've done it the right way from the beginning.

I would say, however, that you should really consider removing access via ftp. No package install process for me ever successfully concluded using ftp as the access method. For any user few things are more exasperating than having an install stop at, for example, 83% and move no further, even after 8 hours (or overnight!). Seems that the ftp methods that setup.exe uses do not gracefully recover from issues when an ftp server is overloaded or has slow responsiveness due to high load. If the http access method almost always works why not make it the primary and ftp the secondary access method? My two cents.

Thanks for your help and work on cygports.

The main FTP server is often bogged down; you're best off using a
sourceforge or sourceware mirror.

Following step 2 of the installation instructions will prevent this.

Please note that this method is not supported here or on the main Cygwin
lists.
