I was unable to start gnome due to these gconf issues. I did not know these snapshots existed, so I gave it a try. With the april snapshot, the gconf issues seem mostly solved, but gnome-panel is not working. It draws the panels, but no applets, and seems frozen. Anyone know a solution to this?

Cygwin Ports users,

The longstanding pthread problems seem to be fixed with the 20060527
snapshot of cygwin1.dll.  These problems have affected Qt3 (including
Scribus, PyQt, etc.), KDE, GStreamer, and more.  I'm hoping that this
will also fix Qt4, glom, gedit-2.14, and other yet unreleased packages.

The only downside (that I know of) is that GConf2-2.14.1 is not working,
where is was working with the April snapshots (namely 20060427), but I
intend to get that fixed ASAP.  Of course, this cripples most of GNOME,
save any programs that are GTK-only.

So, in the meantime, if you need GNOME, please sit tight while I work on
GConf2; otherwise, I highly recommend installing the latest snapshot
(20060527 or later) for best results.  If anyone finds any other
packages not working because of the newest snapshot, then please let me
know through the list.

Thanks for your patience, and I hope that this will allow a lot of
updates and new packages in the near future.
