I'm having the same trouble with all gconf enabled applications (all of gnome).

The problem is that the ior file is created with very strange permissions (I have looked in the gconf source, and it should be 0700, but the result is something entirely different (not even sure what the numerical equivalent is)):

Another problem is that nautilus is crashing saying that

eel_preferences_glade_connect_string_enum_option_menu could not be located in
the dynamic link library cygeel-2-2.dll
