I just started using ctags today, so perhaps I'm just
not understanding what exactly is supposed to happen.
Anyway, I'm looking at the PostgreSQL 7.12 code, on
which I ran etags -R from postgresql-7.12/. Then using
FSF emacs 20.7, I do the whole visit tags thing, then
M-. on BufferDesc in freelist.c, which sends me to the
definition of the struct BufferDesc, as expected.
Inside this struct, there is a field Buffer freeNext,
so I do M-. on Buffer, which sends me to:
typedef struct SysScanDescData
Here-> Buffer buffer;
} SysScanDescData, *SysScanDesc;
I was expecting it to send me to the typedef of Buffer,
or the definition of struct Buffer, not some random
reference to Buffer in some other struct. Is that right?
