I use cscope successfully (in conjunction with KScope), but every now and then I get the following error message:

Internal error: cannot get source line from database

This only happens for a couple of symbols. I can reproduce this error when using cscope directly without KScope.

> /usr/bin/cscope -d -L0 <mysymbol>
Internal error: cannot get source line from database

However, the following commands all work fine and return the correct results:

> /usr/bin/cscope -d -L1 <mysymbol>
> /usr/bin/cscope -d -L3 <mysymbol>
> /usr/bin/cscope -d -L4 <mysymbol>
> /usr/bin/cscope -d -L5 <mysymbol>
> /usr/bin/cscope -d -L6 <mysymbol>

Does anyone know what is causing this?

Note: I have tried to remove all cscope files and rebuild the database. It does not fix the problem.

Discussion

  • This is almost certainly a re-discovery of bug #3528987. Closed as such.
