My first post into list, please be gentle :) Firstly thanks for all contrib=
utors - I'm glad I found this pject, cream is the most powerful editor I've=
used so far.=20
I'd like to throw some offtopic suggestions allso;=20
it would be nice to have syntax based completion with completion of methods=
of built-in and self-made classes and functions.
BTW, is there help file format for Linux like .chm or .hlp is for windows? =
Or even better, crossplatform format? Or thingy to convert between linux_fo=
rmat <--> .chm? What I'm heading is that integration on such helpfile and c=
ream would be great, so when editing file, I could do index search to a cur=
rent language related file(s) by simply highlighting a keyword and pressing=
F1. Yeat another step for VI towads a modern IDE.
I don't know what vim scripts and ctags are capable of, but these things wo=
uld be *huge* timesaver for a programmer.
Well, a 'bit' easier stuff would be to do something to search/replace dialo=
gs - I find them not-so-handy to use, because there's three different dialo=
gs related to a simple search task: String to find inputbox, options dialog=
and next/previous dialog. These all could easily be in one dialog, if the a=
wkward checkbox style would be ditched. This is all ofcourse IMHO stuff - s=
o if you are iventor of those features, no offence intended :)
Anyway, to my problem: I'm having trouble to get folding to work way I like=
. Manual folding seems not handy enough for me, I'd prefer to syntax based =
one. After :set foldingmethod=3Dsyntax folding won't work at all. When givi=
ng :fold it responds E350: Cannot create fold with current 'foldmethod'. Th=
is is C -file I'm editing with version 0.30 2004 June 12 vim 6.3.3... ctags=
is v.5.5.2 - I don't know if this is related though..
