If you guys can grab the current CVS of chicken, this is no longer an issue.  Chicken now allows you to specify the port and the display independently of each other.

I seem to remember that other clients do this, as well, such as RealVNC. But perhaps it would be better if they had chosen 80 as the cut-off point instead of 100. I have modified the code to do this, recompiled it, and put it here:
