I'm new to VNC: using CotVNC on my Mac to access a Linux PC (using the Gnome "remote desktop" utility). Everything works fine, except for a large amount of lag between making inputs on the Mac (moving the mouse, typeing) and having it reflected back. I thought this was strange since the desktop image seems very fast: e.g. if I move around on the Linux desktop manually it shows up on the Mac almost seamlessly (vs. up to seconds on over VNC for the cursor to change position).
Is this kind of cursor/keyboard-lag usual, or does it maybe suggest some kind of one-way connection problem? Not knowing anything about VNC I would have suspected the opposite: cursor movements and key commands would be low-bandwidth and fast, while screen draws would be slow.
p.s. lowering the colour option makes no difference: drawing still fast, input still glacier slow.
