When I tick a field's Centrally maintained in Window, Tab &
Field I would expect that Name, Description and
Comment/Help is taken from the System Element that is
associated with the selected column.
What Compiere actually is doing it takes its these data from
the selected column itself in contrary to the description of
the Centrally Maintained checkbox.

If the column Name, Description and Comment/Help is
changed but the associated System element not then the
field's Name, Description and Comment/Help follow the
column's Name, Description and Comment/Help

If the system element Name, Description and
Comment/Help is changed and saved then the Column's
Name, Description and Comment/Help as well as the field's
Name, Description, Comment/Help is changed and
synchronized.

It would be nice when I selected the field's 'Centrally
maintained' that Name, Description and Comment/Help
would be read-only and is filled in when selecting the
column.
The same mechanism could be applied to the column:
Name , Description and Comment/Help could be made read-
only and filled in when I select the System Element. Why a
separate Name, Description and Comment/Help for the
column?
For the field I can understand that when Centrally
Maintained is unticked the implementor can choose e.g. a
different field name.
That way System, Element and Column remain
synchronized and also the Field when Centrally Maintained
is ticked.

It would make the functionality concerning Name,
Description, Comment/Help and the relation between
System Element, Column and Field in Compiere more
transparant thus less suprises.

I also noticed that DB Column Name is changed in Table &
Column for a specific column when a change is made.
This is not desirable because I like to maintain the same DB
Column Name by two different System Elements. I am actually
only interested in maintaining centrally the name, description and
    comment/help, not the DB ColumnName.

Example: DB Column Name C_BPartner_ID might be in one table
or window an employee, in another table an endcustomer or a
    sales person.
Then I would create for instance the System Elements
    XX_HTC1_EMPLOYEE_ID
    XX_HTC1_ENDCUSTOMER_ID
and reuse dictionary element SalesRep_ID and select them in
the appropriate columns of C_BPartner_ID.In that way the
business rules remain the same, only the captions, headers etc
    are changed.

    Regards,
    Dave
