Best way to save customizations

  • I'm making many customizations to compiere, none of which requires any coding.  All changes are made via the gui.  My question is, what's the best way to keep track of those customizations?  Is it best-practice to just do an oracle export after all customizations have been made?  What about versioning?  Is anyone using something like CVS to version the database modifications?

You can set the entity type to 'A' for Application, or 'U' for User Defined. That will differentiate them from 'D' which is Compiere native settings.

During Migration, such settings can be protected from been overwritten.

I have tried doing a EXP IMP Oracle set and it kinda work for my case. But after the IMP, u must look out for document sequence conflicts, which can be solved by running the Sequence Check from the System menu. Otherwise u have to manually go into Sequence, and fix them. No issue there.
