I just tried columba, configured by pop3 account and pressed the "fetch mail" button. During the first 10 emails I got this error but columba continued fetching the mails:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at org.columba.mail.filter.FilterCompoundCommand.<init>(Unknown Source)
at org.columba.mail.pop3.command.AddPOP3MessageCommand.applyFilters(Unknown Source)
at org.columba.mail.pop3.command.AddPOP3MessageCommand.execute(Unknown Source)
at org.columba.core.command.Command.process(Unknown Source)
at org.columba.core.command.Worker.construct(Unknown Source)
at org.columba.core.base.SwingWorker$2.run(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619)

Tested with the last columba version (checked out from svn today) under
Ubuntu Karmic (2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:05:01 UTC
2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux) with this Java version:
java version "1.6.0_16"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_16-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.2-b01, mixed mode)
