Hello Peter Green and other hackers. What's going on with your network code? I also have much interest about how to add an easy-to-setup network function to coLinux. Then, How? Before starting actual discussion, I think we have to confirm the facts, because the situation seems to be different between Japan and other countries. 1. You really dont have RRAS (routing function) in your Windows2K/XP? In Japanese edition, it comes in [Control Panel] -> [Administration] -> [Service]. I mean, it does not need Server edition, but just Professional edition is enough. for this problem, every Japanese says that "what? I have RRAS." of course, my XP/2K Professional has it too. 2. even you dont have RRAS, but you have ICS (NAT function). For all XP Professional, XP Home, 2K professionnal, they have ICS. right? of course, we have it too. 3. some people complain that when they use ICS, they must use a virtual router IP as 192.168.0.1. same problem occurs to Japanese edition, but it is limited to the first setting. I mean, you can change it to any IP once you set it up. you really can not change the virtual router's IP? I hope the guys here tell me your situation. Is really Japanese edition different so much from English edition? I dont think so. localizing is very hard. I guess MS sells just same CD all over the world. --- Okajima. |
