Hi,

Thanks very much! The name-change for the block-devices was the hint =
that I needed. I decided to change /etc/fstab instead; yeah I do realize =
that that might also get me into trouble again but I'll hopefully know =
how to get out then and where to look for it :-)

I did have of course a read-only filesystem, but fortunately my =
knowledge of mount was good enough to re-mount it rw.

The problem is that fsck cannot find /dev/cobd0
or something.... here is a quick fix:

Boot with the option init=3D/bin/bash

cd /dev
ln -sf cobd/0 cobd0

reboot
