Hi, I just installed Colinux 0.6.4 and everything is fine with the gentoo. But when I installed the service as per the readme.txt, and try to start it with net start "Cooperative Linux" in the command prompt, it says it starts but then the service stops right away and in the MS events, i see this: Event Type: Information Event Source: coLinux Event Category: None Event ID: 1 Date: 9/30/2006 Time: 7:37:00 PM User: N/A Computer: YOUR-PHTW5CYNHC Description: The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( coLinux ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: daemon: service stopped. . Any help would be appreciated... Thanks Kit |

Most likely a misconfiguration or a wrong path. Check the registry entrys of the service and try to manually start the same config that you found there to get a better error message. |

Found the problem... The problem was stupid me, I wasnt uncompressing the BZ2 image. Now I downloaded the debian image and all works well, I can start debian and login as root. What I need to know now, is how do i make colinux seen on the network as a seperate pc? I need to run sshd on it on the same network (192.168.1.0). Colinux is running on my wireless XP laptop (192.168.1.101 DHCP Client), now i would like to assign a static IP address to the Colinux of 192.168.1.3 How can I achieve this as when I do ifconfig i get this: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:FF:49:21:30:00 inet addr:192.168.0.40 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:54 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:7729 (7.5 KiB) TX bytes:532 (532.0 b) Interrupt:2 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) I see the TAP-win32 interface in XP but i want it to be on the same network as XP (192.168.1.0) Can someone help me on acheiving this? >The registry entrys of the colinux service. In debian it is /etc/network/interfaces. |
