This is my first contact with this very interesting project.
In my first step, I have received only source of CoLinux from a Linux
Jurnal on DVD, sorry no executable was find on this DVD, and I have no
flat rate for downloads.
Yes, I have read all documentations about building process. I know, (I
think) you have compile CoLinux on real running Linux with cross
compiler for cygwin.
I have installed cygwin with gcc under WinXp, so I tried to compile from
Windows side. I think, should be also done.
It do not. Special settings in build tree nocked me out after 6 houres
try and error. But I have some goodies and a lot of questios. The last
error was need FLTK...
(o) What is your real compiler version for building CoLinux? 2.95.x or 3.x?
(o) Why do you not named the struct union of "struct
co_arch_passage_page"? It's to heavy for my compiler 2.95.x.
A lot of erroror of "unmamed struct/union".
What compiler do this without errors?
(o) Can you please store older Kernel-Patches such 2.4.20 or 2.4.22,
becaues 2.4.24 is not run yust in time on all my computers.
(o) I have not installed phyton. Also not on Linux :-(
You can make your file version.h with a simple script :-)
>>> src/colinux/common/Makefile cut >>>
$(BUILD_PATH)/version.h : $(BUILD_PATH)/version.sh \
$(BUILD_PATH)/version.sh $(word 1,$^) $(word 2,$^) $@
<<< end cut <<<
>>> src/colinux/common/versoin.sh cut >>>
# file: version.sh
# do the same as version.py, more user friendly
echo "#ifndef __COLINUX_VERSION_H__
#define COLINUX_VERSION \"`cat $2`\"
#define COLINUX_COMPILE_TIME \"`date`\"
extern char colinux_version[0x30];
extern char colinux_compile_time[0x30];
" > $3
<<< end cut <<<
(o) readlink ist not installed (under MinGW). It is generaly not good
idea permanetly remove and create softlinks for various versions of
targets or platforms.
I think, it is better to remove the "current" links on "make distclean"
or "make mrproper", and not at every build process for compile. (Its is
heavy under Mingw: "ln" do not a link, it must be mke a copy.
We should take about this.
(o) If do build and install the "mxml" and "FLTK-Develop" can than I
compile the CoLinux tree?
Please list more (best all) requires in your "Build Dependencies", such
WXP, Cygwin Mingw 1.0, gcc 2.95.3, ld 2.11.90
gcc 2.95.3, 2.95.5, 3.3.1, Kernel 2.4.20 - 2.4.22, 2.6.6
Try to compile Source with date "colinux-20040322", Version 0.6.0.
(Yes, I have downloaded 0.6.1 today.)

The downloads for coLinux snapshots AND a 1GB debian image is 20MB
I suspect this is smaller than the downloads required to get the right
version of the build tools.
