    ubuntu 10.04 is very new currently. however, How to build an ubuntu 10.04 image?  or anybody provide the image for download?

    Please follow http://colinux.wikia.com/wiki/Wubi to build your Image self. This should also usable for new version.

    You needs to use a recend kernel version >= 2.6.33 because there exist problems with Upstart.

    What features needs this filesystem?
    Maybe it is not ext2,ext3,reiser?

    … why "text" is missing there?
    Here you must see the "text"! Other case Ubuntu will run in GUI mode and this will fail.
    Is the line broken or to long? I can not see in your last command. On the first you have it.

    … these messages lets me think, the Ubuntu image has loaded some drivers for network. So, the image is mounted and running.

    Try to run without initrd. The modules you can install by hands (later).
    Remove the networks for your first run. This makes the command line more readable.
    Try to find a way to boot with more verbose options about the boot process.

    Thise errors you can supress by giving the kernel command line the filesystem type as parameter. I think like "rootfstype=ext4"

    Please adjust your file /etc/fstab. see http://colinux.wikia.com/wiki/Wubi

    Please add ext4 support in the coming stable version.

    Done. Next autobuild or snapshot with kernel 2.6.33.5 will have it now.

    JBD: barrier-based sync failed on cobd0-8 - disabling barriers

    This is the part, that fails and eats your booting time. I don't know why.
    Asking the Internet and the answer is add "barrier=off" to the kernel options, or add "barrier=0" to the mount options.

    Please remove the initrd from your start! This can sometimes have problems with remounting the root device. Our ramdisk is truly very old and don't know all about new kernel filesystems and the options there.

    An other idea is to transform the rootfilesystem into a normal standard "ext3" filesystem.

    Simply create an new empty file under Windows, create a filesystem on it and copy all the stuff from current filesystem (ext4) into the new one. Some helps you will find under FAQ 28 and ExpandingRoot.
