    Hi Steven

I could not find the application drbl 2.7.30-drbl1. I looked in ...
    1. DRBL page under the files
    2. Clonezilla page under files

But I could not find the app. I was wondering what I need to do to install the beta version? Thanks for looking into this.

    Hi Steven

I followed your instructions to get the unstable version of drbl. The version download is 2.7.28-drbl1. I was expecting 2.7.30-drbl1. Did I do something wrong?

    Could you please:
    1. sudo apt-get purge drbl
    2. sudo apt-get update
    3. sudo apt-get install drbl
Please post all the output for (1)-(3) on the screen.

Somehow the sync mechanism went wrong. I have forced to sync the files on drbl.sourceforge.net manually.
I have switched the doc on the website to the primary repository free.nchc.org.tw to avoid this issue.
Please do it again, from "drblsrv -u", then "drblsrv -i" and "drblpush -i".
    Let me know the results.
    Thanks.

    Steven.

    Hi Steven

I am not sure why different machines behaves differently on this build.

Here are some result on a Optiplex 790

Using 3.2.0-60-generic kernel - current on my machine
    1. I installed drbl and got 32
    2. I kick off PXE from my client machine
    3. Clonezilla splash screen appears and hangs for 10+ minutes
    4. The program proceeds after that and hangs at "drbl-client-boot is finished .starting rcS"

    Using 3.11.0-18-generic kernel from APT
    1. I installed drbl and got 32
    2. I kick off PXE from my client machine
    3. Clonezilla splash screen appears and hangs for 10+ minutes
    4. I am able to see Clonezilla and the buttons seem to work.
    5. I am currently going to see if can pull up an image.

Here are some result on a Optiplex GX620

    Using 3.11.0-18-generic kernel from APT
    1. I installed drbl and got 32
    2. I kick off PXE from my client machine
    3. Clonezilla splash screen appears and stays for about 1 minute
    4. The program proceeds after that and hangs at "drbl-client-boot is finished .starting rcS"

Hi, only for clonezilla server, I suggest you stop these services before configuring drbl:

    echo "manual" > /etc/init/plymouth.override
    echo 'manual' > /etc/init/plymouth-log.override
    echo "manual" > /etc/init/plymouth-ready.override
    echo "manual" > /etc/init/plymouth-splash.override
    echo "manual" > /etc/init/plymouth-stop.override
    echo "manual" > /etc/init/plymouth-upstart-bridge.override

    And dbus service:

    echo "manual" > /etc/init/dbus.override

    Good luck,
    Piter.

    Hi daffy,
So all your tests were on Ubuntu 12.04, the only difference is kernel version?
    Could you please run:
    drbl-bug-report
    and post the generated file?
I need that to reproduce the problem here.
    Thanks.

    Steven.

Yes all of my test was done on Ubuntu 12.04 changing only the kernel.
    - First I used the kernel from the server and nothing seem to work
    - Then I reinstalled drbl and used the kernel from APT just to see what will happen. I could not go through the complete cloning process with the 790 because machine can not be wiped
    - So I thought of using an old GX620 to test but failed

"- Then I reinstalled drbl and used the kernel from APT just to see what will happen. I could not go through the complete cloning process with the 790 because machine can not be wiped" -> Do you know the reason it can not be wiped? Any error messages?

BTW, I did a test about the latest unstable drbl on Ubuntu 12.04 x86-64:

My clients boot successfully and no delay.

BTW, I suggest you can try this mode:
    http://clonezilla.org/clonezilla-SE/use_clonezilla_live_in_drbl.php
First you test Clonezilla live on your machine to make sure it boot successfully. Once you confirm that, you can use the live version for this mode.

    Hi Steven

Thanks! Using this mode help restore my cloning operation that broke when I upgraded to the newest version. I upgraded because I was having problem cloning a new Lenovo T440s. Currently I am able bring up Clonzilla on Lenovo's T440s as well as my Optiplex GX620. However this does not bring you any closer figuring out the problem with the normal mode.

Lenovo T440s previously stops here using the other mode.

So which version of Clonezilla live did you choose?

    Hi Steven

    Here is my selection

In the system, there are 4 modes available for clonezilla:
[0] Full Clonezilla mode, every client has its own NFS based /etc and /var.
[1] Clonezilla box mode, every client uses tmpfs based /etc and /var. In this mode, the loading and necessary disk space of server will be lighter than that in Full Clonezilla mode. Note! In Clonezilla box mode, the setting and config files of client will not be saved to the DRBL server! They just use once and will vanish after the machine shutdowns!
[2] I do NOT want clonezilla.
[3] Use Clonezilla live as the OS (Operating System) of clients (Testing).
    Which mode do you prefer?
    [0] 3
Use Clonezilla live as the OS (Operating System) of clients when running Clonezilla job.

What's the Clonezilla live release branch for the clients?
    [2]: alternative stable (Ubuntu-based)
    [3]: alternative testing (Ubuntu-based)
If unsure, choose [2]: alternative stable.
    [2] 2

What's the CPU arch for the clients when running Clonezilla job with Clonezilla live?
    If unsure, choose i386.
    [0] 1

The Clonezilla live branch is chosen as: alternative

The CPU arch for clients when running Clonezilla job: amd64

When using clonezilla, which directory in this server you want to store the saved image (Please use absolute path, and do NOT assign it under /mnt/, /media/ or /tmp/)?
    [/home/clonzilla]
Directory for clonezilla saved images: /home/clonzilla

The clients will use text mode when they boot.

    OK! Let's continue...

    So how about this?
    1. Download Clonezilla live alternative testing, i.e.
    clonezilla-live-20140407-trusty-amd64.iso
    2. sudo drbl-ocs-live-prep -i clonezilla-live-20140407-trusty-amd64.iso
    3. Run "sudo dcs" to start Clonezilla service, then boot your client to see if it boots successfully.
Or actually here you can choose [3]:
What's the Clonezilla live release branch for the clients?
    [2]: alternative stable (Ubuntu-based)
    [3]: alternative testing (Ubuntu-based)
    It's the same.

    Steven.
