Things that can be written by the user in portable Lisp, should be written by the user, or put into CLOCC. Extensions directly provided by CLISP need to be justified: either because they couldn't be done in portable CL at all (like the socket API), or only with severely degraded performance (like !, READ-FLOAT, WRITE-FLOAT), or if they are indispensable for using some other CLISP built-in. Thus read-from-file and list-length-dotted shouldn't be exported. Even if they were fully customizable and easy to use. Bruno |
