I don't know enough about clisp's internals to do much more probing, but the
a few letters that are common to several symbols and hitting <TAB> causes
CLISP to die if compiled with SAFETY <= 1. Here's a backtrace generated by gdb:
#0 0x08078cb3 in lisp_completion (text=0xb4000008 "", start=135994696,
end=540073596) at stream.d:9183
#1 0x0808c9e8 in lisp_completion_matches (text=0xbfffee48 "J\035\e\b|Þ0 ÈP
@Pîÿ¿\207\001", start=-1073746356, end=-1275068408) at stream.d:9609
#2 0x401cc5a8 in __morecore () from /lib/libc.so.6
#3 0x83ffffff in ?? ()
This problem doesn't occur if the symbols you type don't match any known
symbol (ie entering "(asdf" and then hitting <TAB>).
