Thanks to the efforts of the SBCL developers, it is possible to bootstrap
SBCL 0.8.15 from CLISP 2.33.2 on x86 (and also probably on other platforms,
but I haven't tested it yet).
I added a target 'check-sbcl' to clisp's Makefile.devel that is meant to
be used before making a release. Just like the GCC people check that their
gcc releases can compile Linux and that their g++ release can compile a few
third party template libraries, we can check that the SBCL people have no
reason any more to complain about clisp on their public webpages :-)
And, guess what? The current CVS already fails to build SBCL...
Sam, you are welcome to add a similar target for checking maxima builds,
if you want.
