Compatibility with Java 8

Latest version of Class Viewer, as of July 3, 2014, is compatible with Java 8.

So has all functionality of prior versions including going to javadocs to the method.

If you find Class Viewer is not going to the method in javadocs please download latest version with that date or later.

Backward compatibility with earlier versions is maintained and Java version detected by the application based on what it finds in ClassViewerConfig.xml so if you wish to use Java 7 for instance it will still work, and use the older format, as long as you have that version in the config file.... read more

It also changes to ClassViewerConfig.xml from packagedirectory.xml as that is more descriptive of what the file does.

Possible Class Viewer changes

Considering some minor changes to the Class Viewer app. I see them as mainly cosmetic, but since they include things like possibly changing the name of packagedirectory.xml felt I should give an opportunity for user feedback.

Class Viewer 5.05b

Latest Class Viewer release is 5.05b which fixes several bugs I finally noticed.

Fully functional is the ability to go to Java files with your preferred editor.

As usual packagedirectory.xml is where you set your preference.

With Class Viewer 5.05b you can go from a method directly to that method in the Java file if it is local, in a programming editor of your choice, if it accepts a file and line number as command line parameters.... read more

Class Viewer 5.0.5 release

Latest Class Viewer is the 5.05 which shifts the order of a main menu.

Now: Command Weblinks Help

Also now added the ability to see what version of Java you have, which I decided was something I liked to know, so I added it.

And, um, that's it.

Class Viewer 2.0b Released

http://classviewer.sourceforge.net/

Here may be the first truly production Class Viewer as I finally handled some scrolling issues, and the program shows if it is running as an applet or not.

And if you have Java 1.5.0 (highly recommended) it looks cool when it loads as an applet. Check it out.

A useful tool for the developer that gives you a quick look at a Java class without having to load a lot of extra.

Quick reference tool for Java developers.

Class Viewer Beta Release

http://classviewer.sourceforge.net

Still rough but good enough to call beta. Some new functionality, and remember you can use Class Viewer to cruise your own javadocs. It can be ego satisfying when your work gets pulled up in your favorite browser.

Or if you still haven't written your own javadocs yet, you can at least look over your own classes. But I recommend you start writing javadocs, if you aren't doing so now, and feel the glow.
