Using a french version of Se7en, I followed the steps described in your
readme-file (at least I think so, the file went away during uninstall), but
the old Menu-items still hang... Any clue (registry-hacks...) ? (only the menu
clings on, the icons are gone)

I don't understand. What "hangs"? What icons are gone?

To the details: the classic menu-items (file, edit...) on the left are still
there. The icons added by C-S on the right are correctly gone, though.
(Of course, I unlocked the menu bar, and unticked "always display the menu" in
the file & folder options, & performed multiple shutdowns and restarts, in
    vain...)
Well, and finally I solved the problem, but on the unclean way (i.e. by
activating a restoration-point...). But be aware that the problem exists...

Yes, if you uninstall Classic Shell while the toolbar is visible, the menu
will be locked in the visible position. The correct way is to hide the toolbar
and then uninstall. This is all in the readme file, but as you said it goes
    away after uninstall...

I am preparing a FAQ page to help with such problems.

    Thanks!
I couldn't swear that I've hidden it BEFORE uninstall. So, in doubt...
Nevertheless, do you know a means to fix this issue via regedit?

Well, it is quite possible you did everything right and there is something
    else going on.

But what always worked for me was to install Classic Shell, show the toolbar,
hide the toolbar, then uninstall and log off.

Unfortunately I don't know how Explorer remembers which toolbars are visible
and which are hidden. Most likely it is in the registry but I don't know
    where.

    Ok, thanks.
