So will there be a 13.04 version of Cinnamon Remix?
Well, the target audience for the Cinnamon Remix is the average user. The average user wants to use their computer and does not want to perform a complete operating system reinstall or major upgrade every 6 - 9 months. This is precisely (pardon the pun) why the Cinnamon Remix is based off of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (currently 12.04.2.) I am sure you are aware that the support period for non-LTS releases is being reduced from 18 to 9 months commencing with 13.04 http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2013/04/ubuntu-13-04-beta-released
The first releases of the Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix came out (IIRC) in August 2012 which was, by design, after the first maintenance release of Ubuntu 12.04 (12.04.1.) The Cinnamon Remix is designed to be stable and work well for the end user (with hopefully a minimum of problems and bugs.) The non LTS interim releases are for more advanced technical power linux users who don't mind a major upgrade / reinstall every 6 to 9 months and are able to troubleshoot and fix things that break.
However having said all this I am still open to discuss the matter.
What new feature or performance issue are you most looking forward to in Ubuntu 13.04? If a Cinnamon Remix 13.04 is important to you, please share with me your reasoning? Currently, I hope to continue to update the current Cinnamon Remix at least until the next LTS is released, perhaps longer.
Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I was asking because I often recommend windows users to give Ubuntu a try, and your Cinnamon Remix is the most suitable (in my mind) for them to cut their teeth on. If I recommend to someone in the next few weeks, I didn't want to find that it had just been updated a few days later!
Thanks for the hard work, and keep it up! We do appreciate it.
